The short answer

Pick HeyGen if you need a realistic digital twin of a founder or spokesperson, translation into 175+ languages, or long training and sales videos. Pick AdGraam if you run paid social for a D2C or e-commerce brand and need static ads, UGC-style and product videos, competitor ad recreation, 200+ AI models and Meta analytics in one workspace. On HeyGen's Creator plan ($29/month, 600 credits) its newest avatar model, Avatar V, costs 48 credits a minute, which works out to about 12.5 minutes of video a month. AdGraam is free to start and then charges credits per generation, with the exact price shown before every run.

Short answer: pick HeyGen if the job is a realistic digital twin of a founder or spokesperson, translating video into 175+ languages, or long training and sales videos. Pick AdGraam if you run paid social for a D2C or e-commerce brand and need static ads, UGC-style and product videos, competitor ad recreation and Meta performance data in one workspace. Plenty of teams will end up using HeyGen for one face and AdGraam for everything around it.

What is HeyGen in 2026?

HeyGen is the biggest name in AI avatar video. It passed $200M in annual recurring revenue on June 25, 2026, doubling in eight months, and says it serves 30M+ users in 196 countries, including 85% of the Fortune 100. It calls itself "identity-first": built around your face and voice, in any language.

The 2026 product line reflects that. Avatar V builds a digital twin from about 15 seconds of phone video. HeyGen added Seedance 2.0 for cinematic scenes with avatars, then shipped website-to-video, a Video Podcast app and 30-minute continuous avatar videos in its July update. There is also a pay-as-you-go API, an MCP server and HyperFrames, an open-source framework for agent-built video (March 2026 release notes).

Ads are one use case among many. HeyGen's AI Ad Maker turns a script or product link into an MP4 video ad, its UGC video generator offers 1,100+ creator-style presenters, and Product Placement puts your product photo into an avatar's hands.

What is AdGraam?

AdGraam is an AI ad platform for D2C and e-commerce brands, built around the creative loop rather than the presenter: find what works, make variations, read which ones win.

  • Creative Generator: paste a product URL, get 20+ on-brand static ads in one run, in feed, story and square sizes, then edit any result with AI.
  • Copy Ads: paste a competitor's winning video ad and AdGraam rebuilds its hook, beats, pacing, on-screen text and motion for your product, with new footage and cast, never their footage, faces or logo. Follow competitors' Meta ad libraries to see which ads have run 100+ days, or browse the free Ad Library.
  • Playground: 200+ image, video and audio models behind one login, from Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0 to GPT Image 2 and ElevenLabs.
  • Flow Builder: a visual canvas for your ad production line that an AI builds from chat, with storyboards and batch runs.
  • Video Agent: a chat-based creative partner that writes UGC, talking head, product showcase or podcast scripts, recommends a model per shot and prices the whole ad before filming.
  • Meta Ads Analytics: read-only ROAS, CPA and CTR benchmarks, hook and hold for every video, audience splits, a Scaling Score per campaign and anomaly alerts.

There is also an AI avatar library for UGC-style presenters. Frido, Snitch, Powerlook and Neeman's are among the brands using AdGraam.

How much does HeyGen really cost for ad testing?

HeyGen's plan page on its help center lists, as of September 2026:

  • Free: $0, 1 to 3 videos a month depending on region, 720p, watermarked.
  • Creator: $29/month (less on annual billing), 600 credits, 1080p.
  • Pro: from $49/month, 1,000 credits and up (scaling to 100,000), 4K.
  • Business: $149/month for the first seat plus $20 per extra seat, 1,500 credits.
  • Enterprise: custom.

The sticker price is half the picture; burn rate is the rest. HeyGen's credit guide lists Avatar III video at 4 credits per minute, Avatar IV video at 31, Avatar V at 48, standard Video Agent at 40 and Video Agent with Seedance at 120 per minute. A Seedance 2 clip costs 60 credits at 720p or 150 at 1080p.

Run that against Creator's 600 credits. A 30-second Avatar V ad uses 24 credits, so you get about 25 of them a month if every render is a keeper. Ad testing rarely works that way. If you need two takes per usable ad, that drops to about 12. The same guide says Creator and Pro plans can't buy extra credit packs; when you run out, you upgrade. Only Business can top up, at $5 per 100 credits.

Two more terms worth reading before you pay. Monthly credits roll over for one extra cycle, but they don't survive a downgrade to Free. And HeyGen's refund policy says payments are "generally non-refundable", with a 15-day, case-by-case window.

How AdGraam charges: free to start, no credit card, and new accounts get free credits. After that you pay credits per generation. The exact price of every run is shown before you run it, and the Video Agent prices a whole ad per shot before any filming starts. Teams that want volume or a guided setup can book a demo.

What do HeyGen users praise and complain about?

The review picture is strong on product and mixed on billing.

  • G2: 4.8/5, with ease of use and avatar quality the most praised themes. HeyGen collected 281 badges in G2's Summer 2026 reports, and scored 97 for video translation.
  • Capterra: 4.7/5 from 319 reviews as of September 2026. Reviewers like the speed and the realistic avatars. The cons: some say avatars "can still feel slightly unnatural" in longer videos, and several describe slow support and lost credits on downgrade.
  • Trustpilot: 4.0/5 from about 3,750 reviews in September 2026. The one- and two-star reviews cluster around credits running out faster than expected, failed or wrong generations that still used credits, charges after cancellation, and slow billing support. One September reviewer complained that Avatar V went from 20 to 48 credits a minute.

That last point explains a lot of the confusion online. Many third-party guides still quote 20 credits per minute for HeyGen's premium avatars. HeyGen's own credit guide now says 48 for Avatar V. Trust the live help page, not a blog post from spring.

Where is HeyGen the better choice?

Credit where it is due. HeyGen wins clearly if you need:

  • A digital twin of a real person. Avatar V from a 15-second clip is the best-known way to put a founder or spokesperson on camera without filming every week.
  • Translation and localization. 175+ languages with lip-sync is HeyGen's strongest feature by review score. AdGraam doesn't compete here.
  • Long-form presenter video. Up to 30 minutes on Creator and Pro and 60 on Business, plus SCORM export and interactive video for training teams.
  • Enterprise controls and an API. SSO, admin controls, a pay-as-you-go API and a large developer platform.
  • A vendor at scale. $200M ARR and cash-flow break-even in 2026 is reassuring when you are choosing a long-term tool.

If one of those is your main job, buy HeyGen.

Where does AdGraam win for D2C performance teams?

Performance teams don't need one great video. They need many ad variations every week, in several formats, grounded in what is already working, and a way to see which ones won. That is where AdGraam's shape fits better.

1. Paste a competitor ad, get your version. Copy Ads takes a video ad that has been running for months in your category, breaks it into hook, problem, demo, proof and CTA, and rebuilds that structure with your product and a new cast. HeyGen has no competitor ad recreation: you start from your own script or its AI script writer.

2. Paste a product URL, get a batch of static ads. Many ad accounts run static images next to video. The Creative Generator reads your product page and returns 20+ variations in Meta placement sizes. With HeyGen you need a second tool for this.

3. Choose the model per shot. HeyGen gives you its avatar models plus a few generative ones. AdGraam's Playground and Flow Builder give you 200+, so a product close-up can use one model, a UGC scene another, and a voice a third, each with its price shown before the run.

4. Build the production line once. In Flow Builder, you chat to build a flow (product input, script, image, video, voice, music, stitching), approve storyboard frames before any video renders, then run it across a batch of products or angles.

5. Approve the plan and the price first. The Video Agent writes the script, recommends a model per shot, prices the whole ad and shows a ready-to-film card. No credits are spent until you approve. That is a direct answer to the "credits disappeared on bad renders" theme in HeyGen's reviews.

6. Read the results in the same place. Connect Meta and see hook rate (3-second views) and hold (25/50/75/100% watch depth) for every video, a Scaling Score per campaign, and alerts when CPA spikes. HeyGen stops at the exported file.

As Rohan Ganatra, Founder & CEO of Socialsense.ai, put it: "AdGraam cut our creative turnaround from days to minutes. We can launch more angles, react faster to what is working, and scale performance without growing the team behind the ads."

Can you use HeyGen and AdGraam together?

Yes. Use HeyGen for what it does best: a founder twin, or one hero video translated into ten languages. Use AdGraam for the weekly volume: static batches, UGC-style and product videos, competitor formats rebuilt for your product, and the Meta data that says what to make next.

Which should you pick?

Pick HeyGen if your main output is a recurring presenter, you sell in many languages, or your video is training, sales enablement or internal communications.

Pick AdGraam if you are a D2C or e-commerce team whose job is paid social: more angles, more formats, faster reactions to what the data says, without adding designers, editors or creators.

You can try AdGraam without a card: start free and make your first ad with the free credits. If you want a walkthrough on your own products, book a 15-minute demo.

Key takeaways

  • HeyGen is an identity-first video platform: digital twins, 175+ languages and long-form avatar video. It passed $200M ARR in June 2026 and holds 4.8/5 on G2 and 4.7/5 on Capterra.
  • Do the credit math first. HeyGen's help center lists Avatar V at 48 credits per minute, so Creator's 600 credits cover about 12.5 minutes. Creator and Pro can't buy top-up packs; you upgrade instead.
  • HeyGen's ad tools make video. As of September 2026 we found no static ad generator, competitor ad tracking or ad performance analytics in its plans.
  • AdGraam covers the loop around the video: product URL to 20+ static ads, competitor ad recreation, 200+ models, Flow Builder batches, and read-only Meta analytics with hook and hold for every video.
  • The two can coexist: HeyGen for one founder twin or localization, AdGraam for weekly creative volume and reading what wins.

HeyGen is an AI avatar and video platform built around digital twins, translation into 175+ languages and long-form presenter video. AdGraam is an AI ad platform for D2C and e-commerce brands: static image ads from a product URL, UGC-style and product video ads, competitor ad recreation, 200+ image, video and audio models, Flow Builder automation and Meta ads analytics in one workspace.

How much does HeyGen cost in 2026?

How many minutes of avatar video do HeyGen credits buy?

It depends on the model. HeyGen's help center lists Avatar III video at 4 credits per minute, Avatar IV video at 31, and Avatar V at 48. On Creator's 600 monthly credits that is roughly 150, 19 or 12.5 minutes respectively, before any re-renders.

Does HeyGen make static image ads or track competitor ads?

Not as an ad workflow. HeyGen can generate single images for 2 credits each, and its AI Ad Maker turns a script or product link into a video ad. We found no batch static ad generator, competitor ad tracking or ad performance analytics in HeyGen's plans as of September 2026.

How does AdGraam pricing work?

AdGraam is free to start with no credit card, and new accounts get free credits. After that you pay with credits per generation, and the exact price of every run is shown before you run it. Teams that want volume or a guided setup can book a demo.

Is HeyGen good for UGC-style ads?

It can be. HeyGen offers 1,100+ creator-style presenters and a Product Placement feature that puts your product in an avatar's hands. Some Capterra reviewers say avatars can still feel slightly unnatural in longer videos, so test your own script before committing a testing budget to it.

Can I use HeyGen and AdGraam together?

Yes. A common split is HeyGen for a founder digital twin or translating a hero video into many languages, and AdGraam for the weekly volume of static and video ad variations, competitor format recreation and reading Meta results.
