Why one ad needs so many sizes

Every placement has its own shape. Facebook and Instagram feeds want square or 4:5, Stories and Reels want 9:16, link ads and Google responsive ads want a wide 1.91:1, and Google Display has a dozen fixed banner sizes. Upload one shape everywhere and the platforms crop it for you, often through the middle of the product.

Making each size yourself means you choose what stays in frame, and the ad looks like it was made for the spot it runs in.

Crop or fit: which to use

Fill and crop covers the whole size with your picture and trims the edges. It looks best for photos with room around the subject. Tap the product or face first so every crop keeps it.

Fit whole image shows the entire picture and fills the gaps with a blurred copy of it or a colour you pick. Use it for pictures with text, a logo or a product right at the edge, and for very wide sizes like the 728 x 90 leaderboard, where a crop leaves only a thin slice. You can switch any single size between the two.

Google Display ads and the 150 KB limit

Google Ads only accepts uploaded image ads of 150 KB or less. The resizer saves every Google Display size as a JPG and lowers the quality step by step until the file fits, so you can upload them straight away. Responsive display and Demand Gen images can be larger, so they keep full quality.

Tips for resizing ad images

The resizer does the maths, but the source picture decides how good the results look.

  • Start from at least 1200 px on the short side; small pictures look soft when enlarged.
  • Keep the product and any text near the middle, so every shape can keep them.
  • Check the smallest banners by eye: text that reads well at 1080 px may be tiny at 320 x 50.
  • For Stories and Reels, check the 9:16 version in the safe zone checker before it runs.

Questions people ask

What size should a Facebook ad image be?

Use 1080 x 1350 px (4:5) or 1080 x 1080 px (1:1) for the feed, 1080 x 1920 px (9:16) for Stories and Reels, and 1200 x 628 px for link ads. The resizer makes all four at once.

What sizes do Google Display ads need?

The most used are 300 x 250, 336 x 280, 728 x 90, 300 x 600, 320 x 50 and 970 x 250, each under 150 KB. Responsive display ads instead ask for a 1200 x 628 landscape and a 1200 x 1200 square image.

Will resizing make my image blurry?

Making a picture smaller keeps it sharp. Making it bigger than the original can soften it, and the resizer marks those sizes so you know. Start from the largest version you have.

Can I resize an image for TikTok ads?

Yes. Tick the TikTok, Shorts and Snapchat group to get a 1080 x 1920 full screen version, then check it in the safe zone checker.

Should I download JPG or PNG?

JPG files are smaller and right for photos, and every ad platform takes them. PNG keeps flat colours and text crisp. Google Display sizes always come out as JPG to stay under 150 KB.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Resizing happens in your browser, and your picture never reaches AdGraam or anyone else.

Is the ad image resizer free?

Yes, with no sign up, no limit on sizes and no watermark.
