Tips for your engagement invitation
- Send engagement cards 2 to 3 weeks ahead, since the date is often fixed only a month or so before the ceremony.
- Name both families on the card, because a roka or sagai is as much about the two families coming together as the couple.
- If the ring exchange has a muhurat, print that exact time and the dinner time separately, so guests know when to arrive.
- A small family roka needs only a WhatsApp card, while a big ring ceremony at a banquet hall still deserves printed cards for elders.

When should engagement invitations be sent?
Two to three weeks before the ceremony works for most families. If many guests are coming from other cities, send the card a month ahead.
What is the difference between roka, sagai and a ring ceremony?
Roka is the small family function where both sides formally accept the match, and sagai or the ring ceremony is the engagement where rings are exchanged. Many families now hold them on the same day, so write whichever name your family uses.
