Tips for your reception invitation
- Say whether dinner is served, since many guests come to a reception straight from work.
- If the reception is in a different city from the wedding, send it as its own card so the two dates and venues are not mixed up.
- Put the hosts' names above the couple, since a reception card usually comes from the groom's parents.
- Give a start time and a rough end time, like 7:30 to 11 pm, so elders can plan the drive home.
Questions people ask
Who usually hosts the wedding reception in India?
Traditionally the groom's family hosts the reception, often a day or two after the wedding and in their own city. Many couples now host it together, so put whichever names are actually inviting.
How far ahead should reception invitations go out?
Send them with the wedding cards, or at least 3 weeks before the reception. If the reception is the only function some guests attend, give them a month.
Can I make a reception card free without signing up?

Is a WhatsApp reception invitation enough?
For friends, colleagues and most relatives, a WhatsApp card is normal now. For elders and close family, a printed card or a personal call still shows more respect.
