Tips for your naming ceremony invitation

  • Namkaran is usually held on the 11th or 12th day after birth, so the card goes out only days ahead and WhatsApp is the practical way to send it.
  • Give the havan or puja time separately from the lunch time, so elders who want to sit for the puja arrive early.
  • Leave the baby's name off the card if you plan to announce it at the ceremony, and call it a name reveal instead.
  • Put a relative's number for RSVP and directions, so the new parents are not answering calls on the day.

Questions people ask

When is the naming ceremony held?

Hindu namkaran is traditionally held on the 11th or 12th day after birth, and the Marathi barsa on the 12th day. Aqiqah is usually on the 7th day, though many families hold it later.

Is the naming ceremony card maker free?

Yes. Naming ceremony invitations on AdGraam are free to make, download and share, and there is no sign up.

Can I add the baby's photo to the invitation?

Yes, photo templates let you add a picture of the baby. The photo stays on your phone or computer unless you make a video invite.

Can I put the Bismillah in Arabic on an aqiqah card?

Yes. Arabic text works on the card, so you can type the Bismillah at the top and keep the rest in English or Hindi.

Should the baby's name be on the naming ceremony card?

Only if you have already shared it. Many families keep the name for the ceremony itself, so the card just invites guests to the naming ceremony of our son or daughter.

Can I print the naming ceremony invitation?

Yes. Download the printable PDF, which is a 5 x 7 inch card, and print it at any local shop.
