Tips for your housewarming invitation
- Ask your pandit for the griha pravesh muhurat first, then print that exact time, because the puja starts on time even if guests are late.
- Write the full new address with a landmark and the nearest main road, since nobody has been to your new home yet.
- Send the card about 2 weeks ahead, and follow up with a phone call to elders, who often expect a personal invite.
- If the puja is in the morning and the party in the evening, list both timings or make two cards for the two guest lists.

What is the difference between griha pravesh and a housewarming party?
Griha pravesh is the puja for entering a new home at an auspicious muhurat, often with a Vastu Shanti puja or a Ganapathi homam. A housewarming party is the celebration with friends, on the same day or later.
When should griha pravesh invitations be sent?
About 2 weeks before the puja is usual. The muhurat is often fixed only a few weeks ahead, so send the card as soon as the date is final.
